Logo AECOM AECOM Environment

AECOM Environment offices operate with a unified philosophy: Deliver seamless, consistent service and global expertise combined with a local presence.

AECOM Environment Malaysia has a staff of over 35 EHS specialists. Our staffs, many of whom have worked in the US as well as throughout Asia Pacific, communicate in English, Bahasa Malaysia/Indonesia, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Tamil.

Environmental due diligence/ Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), Phase II site investigations are particular strengths of our Malaysia office. AECOM Environment professionals deliver ASTM 1527 Phase I assessments for due diligence or baseline assessments. Our team conducts portfolio assessments for financial institution and industrial clients for purchases that involve hundreds of properties. Our Phase II team works throughout Asia and has conducted hundreds of Phase II assessments to international procedures and protocols. In addition, our ESA’s often include compliance and permit evaluation, assessment of hazardous building materials, water resources, etc, thus going far beyond the standard Phase I/II scope.

EHS auditing, management and facility development services is a key area in which AECOM provides support to corporate or plant level teams at large multinational facilities in Asia. Compliance auditing, training, and evaluation are particular strengths. Our staff understand the regulations throughout Asia, and have experience with how the regulators apply client operations. Through AECOM's International Audit Protocol Consortium, our EHS auditors have access to current EHS audit protocols for ten Asian countries (China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand). We also work with local environmental agencies to negotiate meaningful and practical permit conditions for new and operating plants to ensure that requirements will enhance the environment while preserving the plant’s bottom line. We complete Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and related services for our key clients in Malaysia.

Remediation is a fast growing business in Asia, with the region’s numerous contaminated sites and limited local expertise to clean them up. AECOM has worked on the highest profile projects in the region, including those that involving complex pollutants, close public scrutiny, and short implementation times. For example, during a six-month period, AECOM helped a large manufacturing firm to implement a complex remediation system for soil and groundwater cleanup, as part of an exit strategy. AECOM Malaysia was also selected by the Department of Environment (DOE) to develop guidelines and standards for management of contaminated land in the country.

All of us at ERE fully understand that our main business is the business of providing solutions to environmental problems and challenges faced by our clients - not merely writing reports, collecting samples, running computer models or counting butterflies. These other things are tools and means that we use to derive the solutions. Formulating solutions remains our main responsibility.

Providing our client's with sensible solutions and superior customer service is our main business focus. Sensible solutions are solutions that meet the clients' and the regulatory requirements, which are based on wise judgment and practical ideas and creative solutions that solve the problems without costing an arm and a leg. In most countries in Asia, where finances are always limited, sensible solutions are all the more important. It requires a lot of creativity, a lot of talent and lots of experience to provide sensible solutions. There are always many solutions to a problem - a good consultant would provide the most sensible one. At ERE, we have made "the provision of sensible solutions" the focus of our services to our clients.

At ERE, we place a lot of emphasis on delivering superior customer service. After achieving the ISO9001 certification in the year 2000, the firm has consistently sought to improve the level of service that it provides. We realize that it is not enough anymore to merely satisfy the client - clients must be delighted, i.e. having their needs not just met but also exceeded. This is a challenge that we have taken on.

    Umweltkompetenzzentrum Rhein-Neckar e.V. (UKOM)

The Environmental Expertise Center Heidelberg Rhine-Neckar (UKOM) is a regional network working towards environmental achievements in the region. A major goal of UKOM is to give developmental support to strengthen economic and scientific efficiency within the Rhine-Neckar region.

Businesses, scientific institutions, organizations and administrations work hand in hand at UKOM in a " public / private partnership" . Only through cross-linking the extensive human resources of the Rhine-Neckar region can environmental objectives be efficiently achieved. This includes integrating existing structures and experiences in developing a common quality marker.

A guiding theme is the much debated action model of sustainability, which demands an integrative view of ecological, social and economic criteria, as well as legal criteria. Production and consumption can only be sustained through the effective use of natural resources, and future solutions become achievable with new appropriate technologies.

Efficient technology is not the only component of UKOM's expertise. Humans and health concerns, communication and information, environmental issues (climate, water, earth, and nature) are all within the spectrum of the expertise of UKOM. UKOM sees countless possibilities that can be made possible through networking, in terms of environment, society, and economics. UKOM is undertaking the following management tasks:

    • Strengthening of regional environmental expertise
    • Getting environmental activities in the Rhine-Neckar region
    • Connecting existing environmental networks and facilities
    • Transfer management of experiences, achievements, and know-how
    • Formation of topic-specific innovation networks
    • Starting projects and coordination
    • Network maintenance: Support of current members and inclusion of new members
    • Stimulation of the job market through the promotion of innovative environmental technologies
    • Information and communication management
    • Advanced capital acquisition

UKOM is a "bottom-up" initiative of the regional participants in environmental protection, and has therefore chosen the status of a non-profit organisation with success measured not by profits, but by the achievement of other goals.
